Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is going to become the longest-serving Chief Minister of BJP in Uttarakhand today. He will complete four consecutive years on the CM’s chair. These are four years of his two tenures, in which he made a special identity across the country by implementing the Uniform Civil Code in the state and made a lot of headlines.
Four years ago in July, Pushkar Singh Dhami was handed over the reins of the state. Then only six-seven months were left for the assembly elections. The responsibility of making BJP win the elections was on the shoulders of the new young face. There was a myth that the ruling party would not be able to make a comeback. But Dhami broke the myth. BJP created history by winning the elections.
The BJP high command also wrote a new chapter by handing over the command to Dhami. Since then, Dhami has proved to be the most trusted face of BJP in Uttarakhand for the central leadership. Whether it was about implementing UCC or laws like anti-copying, anti-conversion, Dhami did not delay in implementing them.
Dhami’s gentleness in behaviour and strictness in action was always visible. PM Modi came to Uttarakhand several times to acknowledge his work. He patted him on the back and gave a clear message that he should keep working at the same pace without any worries. Meanwhile, whether it was the breath-taking Silkyara tunnel episode or the thrilling National Games, Dhami passed the test of his abilities with full marks.
