There has been a delay of about two and a half years in the election of the national president of BJP. But, now it is believed that this month the ruling party at the center will definitely get a new national president. Because, most of the states have got new state presidents and the new executive has been decided. These people are going to play a role in the election of the national president. Meanwhile, a report has come in the media that BJP can get its first woman national president. But, with this, the name of another OBC leader came to the fore, who is being said to be at the forefront of the race at the last moment. The name of this leader of UP had never come up seriously in the discussion for the national president till now.
BJP will get its first woman president!
India Today has given a report, according to which BJP can get a woman president for the first time. In this, the name of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is being said to be at the forefront. She recently met the party’s current national president JP Nadda and the party’s general secretary (organization) BL Santosh at the BJP headquarters. Therefore, the discussion of her name has started. Another argument being given is that being a South Indian and a well-known face of the party and the Modi government, she can be the first choice among the women of the party. Not only this, after 33% women reservation, this also fits in the promise of BJP.
D Purandeswari and Vanathi Srinivasan also named
Apart from Sitharaman, another name is of former Union Minister D Purandeswari. She is also said to be a strong contender for this post. She has been the former state president of BJP in Andhra Pradesh. Purandeswari knows many languages. She has worked on many important posts in politics. Purandeswari was also selected for the ‘Operation Sindoor’ multi-party delegation. At the same time, the third name being considered as a possible women national president is Vanathi Srinivasan. She is from Tamil Nadu. Srinivasan, a lawyer by profession, currently represents Coimbatore South in the state assembly. Vanathi joined the BJP in 1993. Since then she has played many important roles in the party. She has also been the state secretary, general secretary and vice-president of Tamil Nadu. In 2020, the party appointed her as the national president of the Mahila Morcha. In 2022, she became a member of the BJP’s Central Election Committee. She is the first Tamil woman to reach this position.
Keshav Prasad Maurya can become BJP president
But, a senior BJP official told NBT Online on the condition of anonymity that the party will entrust this responsibility to an OBC leader right now. He told that at present the name of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya is at the forefront for the post of BJP national president. He told that the party will bet only on an OBC face and the second name under this is that of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. But, he told that in view of the Bihar assembly elections this year, West Bengal elections in 2026 and UP assembly elections in 2027, there is full possibility of Maurya getting the command. The BJP official said that both Maurya and Pradhan have RSS background, so the Sangh should also not have any objection to their name.
