Cloud burst again in Mandi, heavy damage in Koratang late night; Heavy rain alert again in Himachal today

Once again, cloudburst has caused havoc in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. Cloudburst in Kortang of Chauharghati Silhbudhani late at night has caused heavy damage, but there is no loss of life and property. Amidst the wounds of the devastation caused by cloudburst at many places in Mandi on Monday night, a warning of heavy rain has been issued again in Himachal on Sunday. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert of heavy to very heavy rain in Mandi, Kangra and Sirmaur.

There is an orange alert for seven districts Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Chamba, Kullu, Shimla and Solan. While there is a possibility of flood in some areas of Kangra, Chamba, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur districts.

According to the Meteorological Center Shimla, Orange alert has been issued in the entire state on 7-8 July and Yellow alert on 9 July. Heavy rain occurred in many areas of the state including Kangra on Saturday.

Meanwhile, two dead bodies have been found in Naidun and Kangra. The body found in Batali area on the banks of Beas river in Naidun has been identified as 30-year-old Indradev, a resident of Pangliyur (Sainj) in Mandi. After the identification of another body, the number of people who died in the natural disaster in Mandi district has gone up to 18.

All four flights cancelled due to rain

Due to rain on Saturday morning, no flight from Delhi and Chandigarh reached Gaggal airport. All four flights were cancelled. In this, one Indigo flight was from Delhi and one from Chandigarh. On the other hand, two Spice Jet flights did not come from Delhi.

239 roads are closed in the state right now

Meanwhile, due to rain and landslides, 239 roads, 258 transformers and 289 drinking water schemes are stalled in the state right now. Maximum 176 roads are blocked in Mandi district. Out of these, 85 roads are closed in Seraj. So far, 72 people have lost their lives in the monsoon season in the state. A loss of Rs 566.87 crore has been estimated.

Government ready to deal with any situation: Sukhu

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Sunday. The state government is fully prepared to deal with any situation. He said that all possible help is being provided to the disaster affected people in Mandi district. Talking to the media in Shimla on Saturday, the CM said that necessary guidelines have been given to provide food items to the affected. He himself is constantly in touch with the district administration. Where the roads are broken, food items are being delivered on mules. Some roads have been restored, which has accelerated the relief work. The Chief Minister said that the government has decided to give monthly rent of Rs 5,000 to the affected every month. He has urged the people of Seraj area whose houses are safe to come forward to rent out the extra rooms to the affected families. So far 1,317 food kits have been distributed to the disaster affected families of Mandi district. Telecommunication services restored in Thunag, ration distributed in many areas.

Meanwhile, relief and rescue operations of Army, NDRF, SDRF and police-administration continued on Saturday in disaster affected Mandi’s Seraj, Thunag and other places. 250 NDRF and SDRF personnel have been deployed.

Relief material is being delivered in the affected areas by two helicopters. Relief and rescue operations have now gained momentum in Seraj area. Army personnel are taking charge of the marshy roads.

Telecommunication services have been restored in Thunag. Electricity facility has also started being available in some places. Ration has also started reaching Janjheli along with Thunag.

Pregnant woman taken to Karsog on foot, palanquin and vehicle

Mandi Janjheli road has been restored to Lambathach via Thunag. Ration kits are being delivered to Raingalu. On Saturday, two pregnant women were taken to Karsog from Janjheli on foot and vehicle. We travelled about 8 to 10 kms in a palanquin.

The cloudburst in Mandi’s Saraj has damaged the apple crop. Talking about this, a local man named Dinesh said that there has been a lot of damage. We had planted a thousand saplings in the garden, which were also destroyed. Some of the saplings were 25 years old this year, and we had planted other small saplings as well, but they perished. Our family is safe and healthy. Everything is fine, and the animals are also safe.
