Hurdles in India-US trade deal, negotiation phase is over now: Sources

There has been a hitch in the trade agreement between India and America. Sources have told that now there is no round of talks left in this deal. According to sources, India has made it clear that now this deal will happen only when it is given priority in labor-intensive sectors. Agriculture and dairy were two such sectors which were always important issues of the agreement. The message was given several times by the Government of India that India will not bow down on these issues at all. The deadline for this trade agreement was till July 9.

No deal of any kind!

If sources are to be believed, there is hope of a deal on goods and tariff, but all possibilities of any kind of deal on agriculture and dairy have ended. There is no scope left for any kind of mini deal or interim agreement. It was already said from India’s side that it will not bow down in any way on agriculture and dairy. If we talk about sectoral tariff which includes steel and aluminum, then there is no possibility of getting any relief in interim agreements.

Piyush Goyal had given a big statement

Earlier on Friday, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal had said that India will not rush to sign a free trade agreement under the pressure of any deadline. He said this when he was asked whether an agreement could be reached with the US by the stipulated deadline? On the sidelines of a program, Piyush Goyal had said that India is ready to enter into trade agreements in the national interest, but he ‘never negotiates trade deals with a deadline’.
