The Chief Secretary directed the concerned officials that in order to curb financial and cyber crimes in today’s digital age, there should be better coordination between all the bankers and implementation agencies and departments, FIR, investigation, chargesheet, compliance etc. related to financial crimes should be expedited and there is a need for making effective institutional efforts to stop this type of financial fraud. For this, he said that along with making the general public aware, there is also a need for a strong body to control it.
He directed that EOU (economic offence wing) which is currently working under CBCID should work to make this agency an independent agency. Action should also be taken to merge FFU (Financial Fraud Unit) working under STF in this agency.
He said that there should also be mandatory presence of bank representative in Cyber Crime Coordination Center so that the website/portal of any institution/firm doing financial fraud can be blocked immediately and people can be saved from financial loss immediately.
He said that nodal officers should also be deployed by all the banks to register the institutions/firms receiving financial capital from the people on the website of Regular Investment (BUDS Portal) https//www.niyamitnivesh.in. So that people can get information about the authorized institution receiving financial capital.
On this occasion, Secretary Dilip Jawalkar, Inspector General of Police Nilesh Anand Bharane, Regional Director of Reserve Bank of India Arvind Kumar, General Manager Mrs. Neeta and other officials were present in the meeting.
