In the ongoing Lord’s Test between India and England, Nitish Reddy surprised everyone by taking two wickets in one over. Everyone was expecting Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep and Mohammad Siraj to open the account of wickets, but Nitish gave India the first two successes. He sent Jack Crowley and Ben Duckett to the pavilion in the same over. Nitish is considered a batting all-rounder and he also scored a century on the last tour of Australia, but his bowling was not that good in the Edgbaston Test in England. Now he has proved himself right to be played at Lord’s. However, Nitish believes that he was preparing for bowling for a long time and was focusing on maintaining line length. He also sought advice from Pat Cummins during the IPL about what type of bowling to do in England. Nitish himself has revealed this.

Nitish used IPL 2025 to better prepare for his first tour of England as a Test cricketer. Nitish did not look that good with the ball on the Australia tour. He knew that if he wanted to retain his place in the team as an all-rounder, then things would have to change on the England tour. Before the series, Nitish had sought advice from Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins about the conditions in England. Cummins then told Reddy how the weather plays a big role in England.

Nitish said after the first day’s play, ‘I asked Cummins what is the difference between Australia and England as this is my first tour. To this, he said that there are not many changes, but you keep an eye on the weather and just play your natural game. You will know. I knew that I was going to play two matches in England with India-A, so he said try to learn as much as you can and you will understand yourself.

Nitish said that he also had a detailed conversation with Indian bowling coach Morne Morkel. He said, ‘I have also talked to Morne. He said that he is seeing good progress in my bowling and I am really enjoying working with him.’ Nitish also said that he had promised himself after the Australia tour that he would improve his bowling.

Nitish had bowled 44 overs in the five-match series in Australia (2024-25), but he hardly bowled in the IPL before the England tour. On the England tour too, Shardul Thakur was preferred over Nitish in the first Test, but Team India lost there. After this, it was decided to play Nitish and on the first day of the third Test, he proved himself by dismissing the England openers in his very first over.
