In such a situation, the question is arising that will PM Narendra Modi, who is going to turn 75 after two months, really leave the chair? Is there any such rule in BJP?

The answer to this was given by senior party leader and Home Minister Amit Shah about a year ago. At that time, the leaders of India Alliance were asking similar questions. Shah had said from the stage in a program, ‘I want to tell the leaders of INDI Alliance that you do not need to be happy that Modi ji has turned 75. It is not written anywhere in the constitution of the Bharatiya Janata Party that a party leader should retire after 75 years.’ Shah had made it clear in the press conference that Modi ji will complete his term.

Now the next question is that if this is so, then why has the 75-year thing been said about BJP for many years? Actually, when the BJP first declared Narendra Modi as the face for the post of PM, there were speculations, photos and news of LK Advani being disappointed. When Modi became PM, leaders above 75 did not get a place in his cabinet. Senior leaders of the party were included in the Margdarshak Mandal. Only after this, the talk of retirement at 75 years started as an unwritten rule.

What did Kejriwal say last year

At that time Arvind Kejriwal was the CM of Delhi. On May 17 last year, he had said in a rally that Modi ji had made a rule that all BJP leaders will retire as soon as they turn 75. He retired many leaders including Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Sumitra Mahajan. Now that Modiji has made a rule, he will definitely apply it on himself.
