3 months ago, 11 people died due to building collapse

A four-storey building collapsed at 2.30 am on April 18 in Mustafabad area of Delhi. 11 people died in this accident. After the collapse of the 20-year-old building, the rescue operation went on for more than 12 hours.

According to the police, 22 people lived in the building. Among them, the building owner Tahseen and 7 members of his family died. These include 3 women and 4 children. It is believed that the accident happened due to heavy rain and storm.

Neighbors said – it felt as if there was an earthquake

At the time of the accident, people living in the neighborhood also felt earthquake tremors and said that the floor below them was shaking. Ryan, who lives here, said that we thought something had fallen on our house, but when we looked outside, we found that the entire building next to us had turned into rubble.

Another resident, Salim Ali, said that dirty sewer water has been seeping into the walls of the buildings for years and over time the moisture has weakened the building, causing cracks in the walls. This is the reason for the accident. The condition of four to five buildings is still dangerous.

NDRF DIG Mohsin Shahidi said that the Mustafabad accident is called a pancake collapse. In such accidents, the floors of the building fall one on top of the other, where the chances of survival are very low. This is a crowded area, so the task of removing the debris became challenging. Heavy machinery could not be used due to lack of space.
