Before the assembly elections in Bihar, a special intensive revision (SIR) process is being conducted for the voter list. However, the opposition is opposing it. The Supreme Court has suggested the Election Commission to use Aadhaar card for SIR. But now according to information received from sources, in the election state of Bihar, under SIR, booth level officers (BLOs) have found a large number of people from Nepal, Bangladesh and Myanmar with Aadhaar cards, residence certificates and ration cards by going door to door.

Election officials said that after a thorough investigation, the names of illegal immigrants will not be included in the final voter list to be published on September 30. Citing the report, Election Commission officials said that during the door-to-door investigation, booth level officers have also found a large number of people from Nepal, Bangladesh and Myanmar. The Election Commission will conduct a special intensive revision of the voter list across the country so that the birthplace of illegal immigrants from abroad can be checked and they can be removed from the voter list.

So the names of such people will not be included

Assembly elections are to be held in Bihar later this year. Sources associated with the Election Commission say that after due scrutiny to be done from August 1 to August 30, if found correct, such names will not be included in the final list to be published on September 30, 2025.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission (ECI) said that till yesterday Saturday evening, 80.11 percent of voters in Bihar have submitted their forms, the Commission is now moving forward to submit the Enumeration Form (EF) before the deadline of July 25. With BLOs at the ground level, the Election Commission is moving ahead to complete the Enumeration Form (EF) before the stipulated deadline of July 25. The Commission, with 77,895 BLOs, with additional 20,603 newly appointed BLOs, is moving towards collecting the Enumeration Form before the deadline of July 25.

Efforts to complete SIR process by the stipulated time

The Election Commission said, “Field level teams comprising 38 District Election Officers (DEO), Electoral Registration Officers (ERO) and 963 Assistant EROs (AEROs) in all 243 assembly constituencies are being closely monitored by the CEO for this purpose.” The Commission said that these efforts of the Election Commission are being completed by 1.5 lakh BLAs appointed by all political parties, who are going door-to-door and leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the name of every existing voter is included in the voter list in Bihar by June 24. For this, more than 4 lakh volunteers are also being made special to help senior citizens, PWD voters and other vulnerable groups.
