Kanwariyas created a ruckus on Saturday night in Haridwar, Uttar Pradesh, insisting to go via the highway. Kanwariyas kept insisting to go via the highway. Actually, the police wanted to send the Kanwariyas from Haridwar to Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Haryana via the Ganganahar track. The Kanwariyas were adamant to go via the Delhi-Dehradun highway. The police dispersed the crowd by using lathis. On the arrival of the police, the Kanwariyas started pelting stones. A sub-inspector was injured in this stone-pelting. Four accused have been arrested in the case. During the Kanwar Yatra, the Kanwariyas had blocked the highway near Bahadarabad toll plaza. When the police team arrived to remove the Kanwariyas from the highway, the ruckus started. The police kept patrolling the highway till around 10:30 pm on Saturday night so that no one could take the law and order into their hands.

The sub-inspector seriously injured

The dispute deepened after the Haridwar police team arrived to remove the jam. It is alleged that the Kanwariyas started pelting stones on the police team. In this, Inspector Karam Singh Chauhan was seriously injured. He suffered a serious head injury. The inspector was rushed to the hospital. His condition remains critical there. At the same time, security arrangements have been tightened on the highway since the incident.

Vandalism started in buses

The miscreants created a ruckus at the Bahadarabad toll plaza. They vandalized the buses parked at the toll plaza. When the situation started getting out of control, additional police and paramilitary forces had to be called. They dispersed the crowd by hitting them with sticks and using force. After this, patrolling on the highway has been increased.

The police have also detained four miscreants from the spot. Actually, the incident started when the Kanwar pilgrims sat down blocking the middle of the road at the toll plaza. When the policemen tried to convince them, an argument started first. After this, some Kanwariyas suddenly started pelting stones. After the dispute escalated, heavy police force was deployed in the toll plaza area till late night.

Inspector Narendra Rathore said that four accused have been detained from the spot. SSP Pramod Dobal said that a case has been registered in view of the seriousness of the incident. Action is being taken under the relevant sections. He clarified that those who take the law into their hands under the guise of Kanwar Yatra will not be spared under any circumstances.

Uproar over insistence to go via highway

During the Kanwar Yatra, there was a ruckus at Singhdwar, Shankaracharya Chowk over insistence to go via the highway. There was a heated argument between the Kanwariyas and the police over this. The Kanwariyas misbehaved with the female police officer at Premnagar Ashram. A situation of confrontation arose between the Kanwariyas and the police at Singhdwar and Premnagar Chowk. After this, the police had to resort to lathi charge.

Barricades have been installed on the Kanwar track to prevent the Kanwariyas from going on the highway at Singhdwar Chowk. On Saturday afternoon, some Kanwariyas left the Kanwar track and started moving ahead on the highway. The Kanwariyas started creating a ruckus by removing the barricades. Within no time, hundreds of Kanwariyas came on the highway. This caused a jam there.
