Like Bihar, voter lists will be checked across the country: Election Commission’s preparations complete; Decision will be taken after the hearing on July 28 in the Supreme Court

After Bihar, the Election Commission (EC) is now going to conduct Special Intensive Revision (SIR) across the country. Under this, the voter list is thoroughly examined and updated. It can start from August.
The EC has activated its election machinery in all the states. This decision of the commission came on the permission of the Supreme Court on July 10 to continue the Special Intensive Revision in Bihar. The court had called it constitutional.
However, many opposition parties and people are against this revision. They have also challenged it in the SC. It is claimed that due to Special Intensive Revision, eligible citizens will be deprived of their voting rights.
According to the Election Commission official, the Election Authority will take a final decision on SIR after July 28 because the case of Bihar Special Intensive Revision is to be heard again in the Supreme Court.
At the same time, the Chief Election Officer of some states has also started releasing the published voter list after the last SIR in their states.
Delhi CEO website has 2008 voter list available
The Delhi CEO website has the 2008 voter list, when the last special intensive revision was done in Delhi. The last special intensive revision in Uttarakhand was done in 2006. The voter list of that time is available on the state CEO website.
The last special intensive revision in the states will serve as the cut-off date, as the Election Commission is using Bihar’s 2003 voter list for the special intensive revision. In most states, the voter list was revised between 2002 and 2004.
Nepal-Bangladesh people in Bihar’s voter list

According to EC officials, ‘Such people will be investigated after August 1. The names of illegal immigrants will not be included in the final voter list to be published on September 30.’ The work of voter list verification started on June 24 and the last date for submitting the counting form is July 25, 2025.
