People from Nepal, Bangladesh and Myanmar in Bihar’s voter list… Shocking revelations in Election Commission’s SIR

Shocking information has come to light during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign of voter list in Bihar. According to senior sources of the Election Commission, during the door-to-door survey conducted in the state, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have found a large number of people who have come to India illegally from countries like Nepal, Bangladesh and Myanmar and were trying to get their names added to the voter list.

Sources say that these suspicious names are now being thoroughly investigated and the names which will not be verified after August 1, 2025, will not be included in the final voter list to be published on September 30. It is believed that after the publication of the final list, the Commission can make public the number of these illegal immigrants.

When is the last date for this process?

Meanwhile, the work of filling the voter enumeration form and entering the required details like name, date of birth, address, Aadhaar number and voter ID number is being completed rapidly. According to the Commission, so far more than 80 percent of the eligible voters have submitted their forms. Although the Commission has set the last date for this process as July 25, it is expected that this work will be completed before that.

What to do if the name is not in the list?

If your name is not included in the draft (temporary) list of voters to be released on August 1, then there is no need to panic. You can first apply to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) with your necessary documents. If the solution is not found from there, then you can appeal to the District Election Officer (DEO) and then to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the state.
