Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday attended the Bhagwati Surkanda Maa Divya Jagar release ceremony organized by the Himalayan Heritage Society at the IRDT Auditorium in Dehradun. The Chief Minister released Jagar on Surkanda Devi by Jagar singer Pritam Bharatwan.

The Chief Minister said that through Jagar, our ancestors established a dialogue with nature, mountains, rivers and divine powers. Our Jagar tradition is as profound as the Vedic mantras, which are not only sung but also experienced. Jagar has not words but power, every bol, every rhythm and beat of the drum has a spiritual power, which invites divinity. Therefore, it is the duty of all of us to encourage such efforts. The Chief Minister said that our government is constantly making efforts to preserve cultural heritage.

Addressing the program, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Maa Surkanda Devi is a symbol of our folk faith, culture and spiritual tradition, the wonderful work done by our state’s great folk singer Padma Pritam Bharatwan ji to give a live form to her history, glory and glorious story through movies is exemplary. Chief Minister Dhami said that this effort of Pritam Bharatwan will not only bring the glory of Maa Surkanda to the people, but will also play an important role in connecting our new generation to their roots. The temple of Maa Surkanda Devi, one of the 52 Shaktipeeths, is the center of faith and power of the people. Folk tales have been sung here for centuries, jagars have been sung. Today, when this invaluable heritage has been preserved through music, movies, and cultural crafts, this effort is extremely commendable. The Chief Minister called upon the people of the state to always remain connected to their roots and ensure their contribution in taking the folk traditions of Uttarakhand to the people. He said that the culture, traditions and heritage of Uttarakhand are part of our soul.

The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, unprecedented development works are being carried out across India today with the slogan of ‘Vikas Bhi Aur Virasat Bhi’. With the guidance and support of respected Modi ji, our state government is also constantly striving for the development of the state as well as the preservation of cultural heritage.

The Chief Minister said that along with the reconstruction work in Kedarnath Dham and Badrinath Dham, projects are being operated at a cost of crores for the revival and beautification of the mythological temples of Manaskhand. Along with this, we are also working rapidly on the construction of Haridwar-Rishikesh Ganga Corridor and Sharda Corridor. Earlier one had to walk to go to Maa Surkanda Devi Temple, but it was our government that started the operation of ropeway to the temple. On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal, Jagar singer Pritam Bharatwan and a large number of spectators were present.
