Uttarakhand: CM Dhami gave a gift to apple producing farmers, distribution of universal cartons started for better packaging

On the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, distribution of cartons has been started to give a unique identity to the apples of Uttarakhand to the apple producing farmers of Uttarkashi and Dehradun districts and for better packaging of apples. The Chief Minister said that there are immense possibilities of organic farming and horticulture in Uttarakhand, a policy has been made for the proper development of horticulture in the state, the government is continuously promoting horticulture. Apple cultivation is being specially encouraged by the state government in the field of horticulture.

Continuous promotion of horticulture

He said that the government is continuously working towards apple production in the state and to ensure fair price of apple to the apple producing farmers. Work has been done to give a unique identity to the apples produced in Uttarakhand by selling the apple product of the farmers in Uttarakhand brand Universal Carton / Corrugated Fiber Board Box (CFB) with Apple Tray.

With the objective of providing higher prices to farmers for their produce, the work of distribution among farmers through Horticulture Mobile Squad Centres has been started by providing 3.85 lakh Universal Cartons demanded by farmers of Uttarkashi district and 0.75 lakh Universal Cartons demanded by farmers of Dehradun district to listed firms/companies.

The farmers/apple producers of the state will now get higher prices for their produce by getting Universal Cartons on 50% subsidy under the Uttar Fasal Prabandhan Yojana of the State Sector run by the Horticulture and Food Processing Department. Along with this, they will be able to provide their important support in giving a unique identity to the apple produce of Uttarakhand.
