Uttarakhand: Difficulties of candidates may increase in Panchayat elections

The problems of the candidates of the proposed Panchayat elections in Uttarakhand may increase. In fact, the names of more than 500 candidates have been found registered in the voter list at two different places.

The petitioner has submitted a detailed list to the Election Commission regarding this matter and has demanded immediate action. The petitioner has warned that if the Election Commission does not take immediate and concrete steps in this matter, then they will knock the doors of the Nainital High Court again.

HC has given instructions to conduct elections as per the rules
It is worth noting that even before this, the High Court had given clear instructions that the Panchayat elections should be conducted completely as per the rules and with transparency. In such a situation, if the name of the same person is present in the voter list of two different places, then it is a clear violation of the rules.
