TDP said that the suggestions given to the Election Commission on special intensive revision are not related to Bihar. They are only for Andhra Pradesh.

In an exclusive conversation with ET, TDP MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayulu said that his meeting with the Election Commission should not be linked to the ongoing process SIR in Bihar. He said that he had met Election Commission officials to know the views of the parties. It was part of an ongoing process.

‘People should not have to run around for names in voter list’

TDP, while following coalition dharma, also spoke in the interest of the people. The party said that ECI is doing a good job. But, the voter is the most important. They should not have to wander here and there to get their name added to the voter list. TDP told ECI that if SIR is started, the process of verification should be easy.

TDP had expressed objections in a letter to the Election Commission

On Tuesday, TDP submitted a four-page letter to the Election Commission. In this, the Telugu Desam Party had said that the purpose of SIR should be clear. It should be kept separate from citizenship verification. It should be completed at least six months before the elections. No burden should be put on the voter. TDP has also tried to maintain the alliance while talking in the interest of the people. This shows that it does not want any trouble in the alliance right now.

TDP’s national spokesperson Jyotsna Tirunagari said that their talks before ECI had nothing to do with Bihar. Their concerns were about the same name appearing multiple times in the voter list, using technology to remove duplicate names, using biometrics in voter ID cards, giving migrant workers a chance to get their names added and involving political workers in updating the voter list. Their talks were limited only to Andhra Pradesh.
