Amarnath Yatra banned! Both routes have been closed, know when devotees will be able to have darshan

Amarnath Yatra The devotees who set out on the holy pilgrimage of Amarnath are facing the wrath of nature this time. Due to continuous rain and landslides, the Amarnath Yatra has been postponed till July 17. The administration has taken this decision keeping in mind the safety of the pilgrims.

The torrential rains that have been going on for the last 36 hours have damaged both the routes of the Yatra, Pahalgam and Baltal. Tracks have been washed away from many places, landslides have occurred in many parts. The situation became more serious after the news of the death of a female devotee and three people being injured on the Baltal route of Ganderbal district.

Amarnath Yatra stopped, both routes closed

Kashmir Divisional Commissioner Vijay Kumar Bhiduri has said that repair of tracks has become necessary due to the weather. That is why the Yatra has been temporarily stopped from both routes. However, the devotees who are currently staying in the Panjtarni camp have been allowed to reach Baltal under the supervision of BRO and rescue team.

The journey can start again tomorrow

The BRO (Border Roads Organisation) is engaged in repairing the tracks with full force. Machines and manpower have been deployed. If the weather cooperates, the journey can start again on July 18, i.e. Friday.

Alert of heavy rain in the future too

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of two days of heavy rain for the Kashmir Valley and the Yatra routes. Due to this, devotees have been appealed to follow the advisory of the administration and not take unnecessary risks.

So far 2.47 lakh have visited

This time the Yatra started on July 3 and so far about two and a half lakh devotees have visited Baba Barfani. More than 1 lakh pilgrims have started the journey from Jammu. So far more than 4 lakh people have registered online. Last year this figure had crossed 5.10 lakh. This time too a large number of devotees are joining.

Keep these things in mind

  • Travellers going on the Yatra must take updates about the weather. Start the journey only when the track is completely safe.
  • Trust only the information provided by the administration instead of social media or rumours
