Uttarakhand: Grandmother and granddaughter died after eating wild mushrooms, Health Department called for a report within 48 hours

The Health Department has taken cognizance of the death of grandmother and granddaughter after eating poisonous wild mushrooms in Munsiyari area of Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. Considering the case as very serious and sensitive, the Health Department has ordered an immediate investigation. Also, a report has been summoned within 48 hours.

After the instructions of the Health Department, CMO formed an investigation team

On the instructions of Director General of Health Dr. Sunita Tamta, Chief Medical Officer Pithoragarh has formed a three-member expert committee to investigate this matter, which has been instructed to submit a detailed investigation report within 48 hours. An investigation committee of experts has been formed under the chairmanship of Pithoragarh CMO Dr. Prashant Kaushik.

The report has to be submitted within 48 hours

The committee includes Dr. S.C. Rajbar, Physician, Dr. Hemant Sharma, Anesthesia Specialist. Dr. Sunita Tamta said that the committee has been instructed to conduct an impartial and evidence-based investigation of all aspects related to the incident, treatment process, medical decisions, timeliness of referral and compliance with protocol and submit the report within two days.

Action will be taken if negligence is found

Director General of Health Dr. Sunita Tamta said that if negligence, violation of medical protocol or dereliction of duty is found at any level in the investigation, strict action will be taken against the culprits.
