Uttarakhand: The opposition surrounded the government on all issues including panchayat elections, targeted the governor and the commission

Uttarakhand Congress state president Karan Mahara, while addressing a press conference, has questioned the process of the BJP government and the State Election Commission, calling it an action being taken under government pressure. He has also demanded the dismissal of the Election Commission from the Governor.
Congress surrounded the government on Panchayat elections
Mahara said that administrators were appointed for six months before the Panchayati Raj elections in the state, due to which the time period was deliberately extended. He alleged that the State Election Commission is working under the pressure of the BJP government and has completely failed to conduct fair elections. Mahara said, the RBA Act is being violated under the instructions of 1950 and 1951.
Congress leaders will fast outside the Raj Bhavan
Congress has demanded the dismissal of the Election Commission from Governor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Gurmeet Singh. Mahara said that he did not get time to meet the Governor on July 14, after which a letter was written on July 16 demanding dismissal. But no answer has been received so far. In protest against this, the Congress is going to fast for five hours near the Raj Bhavan.
Questions raised on Kanwar Yatra
Mahara has also cornered the government on the chaos happening during the Kanwar Yatra. He said that no devotee should be stopped in the Kanwar Yatra, but the law is being flouted in the name of this religious event. Mahara claimed that a local Gujjar was threatened by outsiders in Rishikesh, and no FIR or action has been taken so far. Congress alleged that the accused in the Rishikesh incident is related to a former cabinet minister, due to which the police is avoiding action.
Questions raised on Kedarnath Yatra and helicopter issue
Mahara has also raised questions on Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) chairman Hemant Dwivedi. Mahara said that when the government appeals to the common pilgrims to go on foot in the midst of monsoon, then a person sitting on such a high post himself violates the rules by traveling by helicopter. Mahara has demanded a high-level inquiry into the entire matter from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
