Uttarakhand: Harak Singh Rawat land case, ED filed complaint in court, charge sheet may also be filed soon

The troubles of veteran Congress leader and former cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat in Uttarakhand are going to increase. Soon the Enforcement Directorate is going to tighten its grip on Harak Singh Rawat. This time ED has surrounded Harak Singh and his close ones in the Sahaspur land case. It is alleged that Harak Singh had a criminal conspiracy to get the land in his name, for which ED has filed a prosecution complaint.

ED Dehradun has filed a prosecution complaint in the Special Court (PMLA) Dehradun against Birendra Singh Kandhari, Harak Singh Rawat, Deepti Rawat, Lakshmi Rana and Smt. Purna Devi Memorial Trust under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) 2002.

Let us tell you that, ED was investigating the Sahaspur land purchase case of Harak Singh Rawat for a long time. ED has also questioned Harak Singh Rawat several times in this matter. Earlier also this matter had come in a lot of discussions, but till now no legal action had been taken in this matter. However, now the ED has filed a prosecution complaint before the Special Court regarding the land purchase case of Harak Singh Rawat.

The BJP government has also conducted an investigation: This case of land purchase in Sahaspur is several years old. Earlier the BJP government had also investigated this matter. Although nothing could be done in it then, but now the Enforcement Directorate is seen taking legal action on this episode.

Investigation was started in this case on the basis of the FIR registered earlier. During the investigation, it was found that as a result of a conspiracy hatched by Deepti Rawat wife Harak Singh Rawat, Lakshmi Rana, Virendra Singh Kandhari, Harak Singh Rawat and other persons including late Sushila Rani, the land was registered in her name.

Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate had issued a provisional attachment order in January 2025, in which 101 bighas of land worth about Rs 6.56 crore was confiscated. Since then, the ED was taking legal action on it.

ED gave full information: In the press release issued, the Enforcement Directorate said that the investigation of the case was started on the basis of FIR registered under various sections of IPC 1860 in Sahaspur, Dehradun. Investigation revealed that Deepti Rawat (wife of Harak Singh Rawat) and Laxmi Singh Rana got the lands registered in their name with the help of Birendra Singh Kandhari, Harak Singh Rawat, late Sushila Rani and other persons.

ED investigation revealed that despite the clear order of the court, Sushila Rani along with other persons got two power of attorney of lands registered in Sahaspur (Dehradun). After this, these lands were sold by Birendra Singh Kandhari (Power of Attorney Holder) to Deepti Rawat and Laxmi Singh Rana at a price much lower than the circle rates.

The lands bought by Deepti Rawat are now part of the Doon Institute of Medical Science (operated under Smt. Purna Devi Memorial Trust). Its control is with the family and friends of Harak Singh Rawat.

Harak Singh Rawat has also been questioned on the matter, while the Enforcement Directorate officials have also questioned the rest of the people related to it. In this case, Harak Singh Rawat has also presented his documents before the officials of the central agency. However, after investigation in the case, a prosecution complaint has now been filed in the special court. After which the Enforcement Directorate can also file a charge sheet soon.

He was addicted to drugs and often used to demand money from his mother. There used to be a lot of quarrel between the two when the mother refused. The father told that Manmohan was missing from home since the incident. After which, he expressed doubt that maybe his son had committed the murder and set the room on fire. The police already suspected the son The police immediately registered a case against the son and started investigation. After which, on the night of 14 August, the police arrested Manmohan Singh from Kulhal area. During interrogation, Manmohan Singh confessed his crime. He told that he has been addicted to drugs for a long time. He has already gone to jail in drug smuggling and Arms Act cases. On the day of the incident, he had asked his mother for money for drugs. But his mother refused to give him money and also did not let him go out of the house. He fled with the money after the murder After which, Manmohan Singh, in anger, attacked his mother’s neck with a wooden stick kept in the house. Due to which she died on the spot. After the murder, Manmohan Singh wrapped the body in a mattress and set it on fire so that it appeared that the woman died due to burning. Manmohan fled on a motorcycle with 30 thousand rupees kept in the cupboard of the house and his clothes.
