Uttarakhand: Dhami reached the State Disaster Operations Center, took stock of the heavy rainfall in the state, instructed the officials to remain alert for 24 hours

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday took stock of the heavy rainfall in the state from the State Disaster Operations Center located at IT Park. The Chief Minister interacted with all the District Magistrates through virtual medium and inquired about the condition of rain in the districts, condition of roads, arrangements for Chardham and Kanwar Yatra and electricity, drinking water and basic necessities.

The Chief Minister directed the officials that all officers should remain in alert mode 24 hours a day during the monsoon season. To avoid any loss of life and property, it should be ensured that people get the update of the rain forecast immediately. For this, the disaster management system should be kept active at the district, tehsil, block and village level. The roads which are getting obstructed due to rain should be made operational quickly. Availability of all necessary equipment should be ensured at places sensitive to landslides. The response time for all necessary arrangements should be minimized so that life is not affected due to rain.

The Chief Minister directed that in view of the monsoon, adequate stock should be kept in the hilly districts of the state keeping in mind food grains, medicines and other basic necessities. It should be ensured that people do not face problems in commuting in rural areas. Alternative arrangements should also be made for commuting in case the connecting road is obstructed. The Chief Minister has given clear instructions to all the District Magistrates that all arrangements should be ensured from the point of view of public safety. There should be no complaints of electric shock from any district. The Chief Minister has already given instructions to the officials to conduct a safety audit of the bridges. He has instructed the officials to make all necessary arrangements so that there are no problems of waterlogging in urban areas. The Chief Minister has also given instructions to regularly monitor the rising water level of the rivers. The Chief Minister directed that all the devotees going on the Chardham Yatra should be given regular updates of the weather. In case the traffic is affected due to rain, food, water and other essential items should be made available to the devotees at the halting places.

On this occasion, Secretary Disaster Management Vinod Kumar Suman, Additional Chief Executive Officer Anand Swaroop, Additional Secretary Banshidhar Tiwari and all the District Magistrates were present through virtual medium.
