Soon the departure of polling parties will also start for polling booths. However, according to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain in many parts of the state on 24th July. In view of this, the State Election Commission has released its Plan ‘B’. Under which, if voting is not held at any polling booth on the day of polling on 24th July due to any reason, then voting will be held on that booth on 28th July.
The State Election Commission has also issued an order in this regard. According to the order issued by the State Election Commission, three-tier panchayat elections are being held in 12 districts of the state except Haridwar district. In such a situation, under the notification issued for the election to the posts of Member Gram Panchayat, Pradhan Gram Panchayat, Member Kshetra Panchayat and Member District Panchayat of three-tier panchayats, voting is to be held on 24th July in the first phase. Also, voting is to be held on July 28 in the second phase.
Voting will go ahead if postponed: On the other hand, monsoon rains are happening in Uttarakhand. The plains along with the mountainous areas are submerged. In such a situation, according to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Department in Uttarakhand, there is a possibility of heavy rain in many areas on July 24. Due to which, there may be a situation of postponement of voting in some areas in an emergency situation during the polling dates. Therefore, the Commission has decided to conduct re-polls in case of the possibility of voting being affected in any area. Under this, if the voting process is postponed in the first round i.e. on July 24, the voting process will be completed in the postponed area on July 28 from 8 am to 5 pm.
