Uttarakhand: Dhami reviewed the Urban Development Department, instructed the officials to take special care of electricity, water and cleanliness in all urban areas

While reviewing the game changer schemes of the Urban Development Department in the Secretariat on Monday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that special attention should be paid to cleanliness in all the urban areas of the state. While making people aware about cleanliness, public participation should also be ensured in this work. The Chief Minister directed the officials to encourage the municipal bodies which perform well in the cleanliness survey.

The Chief Minister said that along with cleanliness in urban areas, proper arrangements for civic amenities including street lights, sewer lines, parking system, traffic management, disposal of e-waste should be ensured. The Chief Minister directed the officials to encourage innovation to increase the revenue of municipal bodies. He said that along with the construction of new parks in urban areas, special attention should also be paid to the beautification and better maintenance of old parks. Work should be done on priority on 90 percent centrally assisted schemes operated under the Urban Development Department.

In the meeting, Secretary Urban Development Nitesh Jha informed that Devbhoomi Silver Jubilee Parks equipped with modern facilities are being developed in various cities of the state. These parks will also have facilities for yoga, walk and open gym. All the parks will be ready by 9 November 2026. Work is being done on a plan to store 50 lakh liters of rainwater every year in urban areas. Street light management is being arranged in all 11 municipal corporations of the state through centralized control and management system.

Infrastructure Monitoring Council Vice President Vishwas Dabur, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Sridhar Babu Adanki, Additional Secretary Gaurav Kumar, CPPGG Additional Chief Executive Officer Manoj Pant and related officials were present in the meeting.
