Uttarakhand: Inter-state arms smuggler arrested from Rudrapur, 8 automatic pistols recovered, he had to do this work during Panchayat elections

A major action of STF has come to light before the Panchayat elections in the state of Uttarakhand. A joint team of STF and Rudrapur police station has arrested an interstate illegal arms smuggler and recovered 8 automatic pistols and magazines from his possession. The arrested accused has previously gone to jail in cases of robbery and arms smuggling.
Interstate arms smuggler arrested from Rudrapur
The Kumaon unit of STF, along with Rudrapur police station, arrested 24-year-old Khajan Singh, son of Gurcharan Singh, a resident of Baghwala, late Wednesday night. 5 pistols of .32 bore and 3 pistols of .30 bore have been recovered from Khajan Singh’s possession. Magazines have also been found along with the recovered weapons. Police say that this consignment was being brought with the aim of spreading possible disturbances during the upcoming Panchayat elections.
The smuggling network is connected to Madhya Pradesh
During interrogation, Khajan Singh told that he used to get these pistols from a big arms smuggler named Sartaj from Burhanpur district of Madhya Pradesh. He and his associates used to supply these weapons in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. During interrogation of the arrested accused, information about four other members of this gang was also obtained. STF is now preparing to take action against them as well.
