Another major attack by BLA in Balochistan, 23 killed including a Pakistani officer; 13 soldiers killed on the spot

23 people, including a senior army officer, have been killed in attacks carried out by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). The BLA has claimed responsibility for several simultaneous armed operations in various areas of Balochistan.
BLA spokesman Jiand Baloch indicated that the group’s fighters targeted the Pakistani army in places such as Mastung, Kalat, Jamuran, Buleda and Quetta and also carried out attacks in Nushki, Dalbandin and Panjgur.
How was the attack carried out?
The BLA said that one of the most notable encounters took place on July 22 in the Kohak area of Kalat, where soldiers trying to advance were ambushed.
In this action, three military vehicles were directly attacked and the retreating soldiers were surrounded by the fighters, resulting in 13 soldiers being killed on the spot. Meanwhile, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee has released a report highlighting systematic and widespread repression in Balochistan by the state.
In which region are people missing?
According to the BYC report, 752 people were forcibly disappeared in the first half of 2025. Of these, 181 were later released, while 25 reportedly died in custody. The whereabouts of 546 people are still unknown. The highest number of people disappeared in the Makran region, where Frontier Corps personnel were said to be the main culprits.
