India’s campaign will start against UAE on 10 September
Team India will start its campaign in the Asia Cup against UAE on 10 September. All the matches of India are likely to be played in Dubai. India, Pakistan, UAE and Oman have been placed in Group-A. The tournament will be held from 9 to 28 September
Earlier, Naqvi formally announced the tournament on ‘X’. Naqvi is also the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Naqvi posted, ‘I am happy to announce the dates of the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE. The tournament will be held from 9 to 28 September. We are expecting a great display of cricket.’
The venue was decided on 24 July
The venue for the Asia Cup was decided in the ACC meeting on 24 July. All 25 member countries participated in the meeting.
Tournament host BCCI
BCCI is the host of this tournament. The tournament is being organized in the United Arab Emirates because due to the current tension between India and Pakistan, both the countries have mutually agreed to play matches only at neutral venues till 2027. Under this, Pakistan was the host of the Champions Trophy in March this year, but India played all the matches in Dubai and won the championship. India and Pakistan can clash three times
India and Pakistan will be placed in the same group in the Asia Cup, where both will clash once. After this, they will get a chance to play one more match against each other in the Super Four stage. If both the teams reach the final, then a third match can also be played between them.
Why only T20 format?
This edition of the Asia Cup will be held in T20 format. Since the next ICC tournament is the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, according to tradition, this time the Asia Cup will be played in T20 format.
