After the stampede incident on the staircase of Mansa Devi temple, Mansa Devi temple has now been reopened for devotees. The temple trustee Ravindra Puri paid tribute to the people who died in the accident. Ravindra Puri said that after the accident, the temple premises were closed till 2 pm. But now the temple premises have been opened again for the devotees.
Mansa Devi Trust President and President of Akhara Parishad, the highest body of saints, Mahant Ravindra Puri expressed grief over the accident on the Mansa Devi temple road. He said that he would provide all possible help to the injured. Expressing grief, he said that whatever incident happened on the Mansa Devi road today is very sad. He said that in this hour of grief, the entire family of the temple is with the victims.
Ravindra Puri said that in this incident, all the people of the temple helped the victims as much as possible. After that, the temple administration had decided to close the temple till noon. But as soon as everything became normal, the temple was opened. Ravindra Puri said that till date no such incident has happened in the history of Mansa Devi.
How did the accident happen? Some people say that the crowd was stuck in a narrow path. As the devotees were climbing up towards the Mansa Devi temple, suddenly some people tried to move fast. This disturbed the balance of the people, some people slipped and a stampede broke out in no time. In the chaos, many people fell down and others kept falling on them, due to which many people died on the spot.
Why is Mansa Devi temple special? Mansa Devi temple is an ancient Shaktipeeth located on the hills of Haridwar. It is believed that this place is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths. Where the head of Mata Sati fell. To reach the temple, devotees have to climb on foot or take the help of ropeway.
Every year lakhs of devotees reach here to visit Maa Mansa Devi. Especially in the month of Shravan when her worship has special importance. The belief that wishes asked from the mother will be fulfilled attracts the devotees here. Since it was Sunday, hundreds of devotees from other states also reached the temple to have darshan.
