Russia has given a stern warning to NATO countries that if any attack takes place on its strategically important Kaliningrad region, it will be responded to immediately and destructively. Nikolai Patrushev, a close aide of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Secretary of the Russian National Security Council, said that Kaliningrad is an integral part of Russia and in case of any attack on it, all military means will be used, including nuclear deterrence policy. He has clearly warned that whatever means Russia has to prevent the attack and use against the enemies, those means will be used. It will not hesitate to use any of its means.
In an interview given to Russia’s official news agency Sputnik, Nikolai Patrushev has warned America in stern words. It is believed that very soon Ukraine may start attacking Kaliningrad. Recently, Donald Trump also gave a free hand to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to attack the interior parts of Russia. It is believed that if Ukraine attacks the interior of Russia, including the capital Moscow, then the war can suddenly reach a devastating situation.
Will Ukraine attack Kaliningrad?
In an interview given to Sputnik, Patrushev said that “We have long been aware of the plans made by Western countries regarding Kaliningrad. I can tell them only one thing, that this region is part of Russia and an attack on it will be considered an attack on our sovereignty, which will be responded to immediately and decisively in accordance with our military policy and nuclear principles.” In fact, senior US military officer General Christopher T. Donahue had claimed in a statement that NATO has the full capability to ‘neutralize’ Kaliningrad militarily and a plan has also been prepared for this. General Donahue is currently the Commanding General of the US Army in Europe and Africa. His statement has been seen as a serious warning to Russia, which has further increased Moscow’s concerns.
Let us tell you that Kaliningrad is an important and strategically very important part of Russia. It is cut off from mainland Russia and is located on the shores of the Baltic Sea between Poland and Lithuania. This region has been the main base of Russia’s western military strategy and Russia has deployed long-range missiles, naval and air defense systems here. Kaliningrad has been very close to the borders of NATO countries, so NATO countries see it as a threat. But experts say that if NATO even tries to touch this area, then this attempt can ignite the fire of a major conflict.
