Voting for both the phases of the three-tier panchayat elections has been completed. In the second phase, there was heavy voting along with rain in many hill districts. The Election Commission has released the data of 70 percent voting in the second phase in the state. These include 65.50 percent male and 74.50 percent female voters. Voting for the second phase was held on Monday at 4709 polling stations in 40 development blocks of the state. 21,57,199 voters were registered for this phase. Despite rain in many hilly areas, the enthusiasm of the voters was worth seeing. Crowds gathered at many polling stations throughout the day. There was bumper voting not only in the hilly but also in the plain districts of Dehradun and Udham Singh Nagar. State Election Commissioner Sushil Kumar said that voting has been completed peacefully in all the development blocks. Let us tell you that the fate of 17,829 candidates of the first phase and 14,751 candidates of the second phase has been sealed in the ballot box. In the first phase of Panchayat elections on July 24, 68 percent voting took place while in the second phase 70 percent voting took place. Now the counting of votes will start from 8 am on July 31.
