Disaster hits China, 34 people die around capital Beijing

News of a major natural disaster has come to light in India’s neighboring country China. According to information given by China’s government media, there has been terrible rain and flood in China’s capital Beijing and its surrounding areas. So far 34 people have died due to this flood and rain.

80,000 people evacuated

CNN has quoted information given by China’s government media that heavy rains have been continuing in the northern region of Beijing for several days, due to which 30 people have died. More than 80,000 people have been moved from one place to another in the Chinese capital. Dozens of roads have been damaged in the area and power supply to 136 villages has been cut off.

How many people died where?

The highest number of 28 people have died in Beijing’s Miyun district. At the same time, two people died in Yanqing district. Apart from this, a landslide incident was reported in neighboring Hebei province on Monday in which 4 people have died. Apart from this, 8 other people are still missing. According to China’s Xinhua news agency, Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang has said that heavy rains and floods in Miyun have caused serious loss of life and he has called for rescue efforts.

Xi Jinping gave instructions to officials

According to the information, Chinese President Xi Jinping has taken cognizance of the devastation in Beijing and its surroundings. He has instructed officials to search and rescue the missing people, properly settle the displaced people and make every effort to reduce the death toll.

Beijing officials have started emergency response from Monday night. People have been ordered to stay indoors, close schools, postpone construction work and stop outdoor tourism and other activities till then.
