Election Commission doubled the remuneration of booth level officers, also fixed the honorarium of ERO and AERO

The Election Commission of India has taken a historic decision for the personnel deployed on election duty. The Commission has increased the annual remuneration given to the Booth Level Officer (BLO) from Rs 6 thousand to Rs 12 thousand. Also, the amount given to BLO supervisors has been increased from Rs 12 thousand to Rs 18 thousand per year.

The commission has also increased the incentive amount given to BLOs for voter list revision from Rs 1 thousand to Rs 2 thousand. Apart from this, the Sub-District Magistrate (SDM) working as Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) will now be given an annual honorarium of 30 thousand, while Tehsildar level officers working as Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) will be given an annual honorarium of 25 thousand.

Honorarium fixed for ERO and AERO for the first time

Let us tell you that this is the first time that honorarium has been fixed for ERO and AERO. Earlier, the Commission had also approved an additional special incentive of Rs 6,000 to BLOs for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) starting from Bihar. This decision reflects the Election Commission’s commitment to adequately compensate the election personnel who work tirelessly at the field level to maintain accurate voter lists, assist voters and ensure smooth conduct of the election process.

There are 13 thousand BLOs working in Uttarakhand

Let us tell you that currently about 13 thousand BLOs are working in Uttarakhand. At the same time, about 70 sub-district magistrates are appointed as EROs, who play an important role in the preparation of the voter list and strengthening the election process.
