Uttarakhand: The clerk embezzled lakhs of rupees by preparing fake signatures, this is how it was revealed

The court has given a strict punishment to a clerk who tarnished the reputation of the government system by embezzling government funds. The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Avinash Kumar Srivastava convicted clerk Madan Singh Gosai, who was working in Government Higher Secondary School, Aethal, and sentenced him to five years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000.

The clerk embezzled lakhs of rupees by preparing fake signatures

According to Assistant Prosecution Officer Navendu Kumar Mishra, the accused made illegal withdrawals from General Provident Fund (GPF) accounts by preparing fake signatures of several principals during his posting in the year 2008. Not only this, the amount of government fees and student fund collected from the students was also not deposited in the bank passbook and was embezzled for personal use.

The principal detected the irregularity while checking the accounts

The matter came to light when the then principal of the school detected the irregularity by checking the accounts and lodged a complaint in the police station. After investigation, the police filed a charge sheet against the accused Madan Singh Gosai. On the basis of solid evidence, the court convicted Madan Singh and sentenced him to 5 years in jail and a fine of Rs 10,000.
