After the cloudburst, when there was debris, destruction and screams everywhere, the army came as a hope for the people. ITBP and army soldiers have started trying to build a temporary bridge so that relief can be provided to the 200 people trapped in the village.
The army and relief teams are standing day and night in the disaster of Uttarkashi. Teams like Army, ITBP, NDRF are in the field with full force to save the lives buried in the debris. Every moment is being monitored from the disaster control room.
ITBP and army soldiers are trying to make a way in about 25 feet high debris to reach the villagers trapped in the middle of the village in Dharali. Efforts are being made to build a temporary bridge. About 200 people are also stranded in the village.
More army teams, search dogs, drones, and digging machines have been sent to speed up relief operations in Harshil. Meanwhile, the body of a 32-year-old youth has been recovered from the debris in Dharali.
Army and ITBP personnel are engaged in rescue operations. But the Gangotri Highway remains an obstacle in the rescue. NDRF DIG Mohsin Shahedi said, according to the information, four people have died and more than 50 people are reported missing. There are also reports of flash floods at two places in Harshil and Sukhi Top.
About 11 army personnel are reported missing in Harshil. There have been no casualties in Sukhi Top. The Rishikesh-Uttarkashi highway is affected, so the movement is very slow.
