Uttarakhand / Dehradun: SNCU did not start even after DM’s instructions

ICU and SNCU are closed due to shortage of health workers in Sub District Hospital Vikasnagar. Critical patients and injured are referred to higher centers.
The sub district hospital has SNCU (Special Newborn Care Unit) to admit critical newborns. ICU (Intensive Care Unit) was also built in the hospital during the Corona epidemic. Sick newborns are not being admitted in SNCU while District Magistrate Savin Bansal had instructed the hospital administration to start it by June 15 at any cost. The ICU built on the second floor of the hospital is locked. All equipment like ventilator, oxygen concentrator, syringe pump, five para monitor etc. are available here. According to the hospital administration, ICU and SNCU are not being operated due to shortage of nursing and technical staff.
CMS Dr. Pradeep Chauhan said that the process of recruitment of nursing staff is going on at the headquarters level. SNCU will be started operating 24 hours as soon as the staff is available. Both technical staff and nursing staff are needed to run the ICU. The demand will be sent to the headquarters.
