Earthquake shook the earth late at night, people left their homes in panic, know what was the intensity

A powerful earthquake of magnitude 6.1 struck Turkey’s western province of Balikesir on Sunday evening. According to the country’s Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD), the tremor occurred at 7:53 pm local time and its depth was measured at 11 kilometers. The German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) recorded its magnitude as 6.19 and depth as 10 kilometers.
The epicenter of the earthquake was in the Sindirgi region and tremors were felt in several provinces including Istanbul. Minister Ali Yerlikaya informed on the social media platform ‘X’ that AFAD teams immediately started inspection work in Istanbul and surrounding provinces and so far no serious damage or loss of life has been reported.

AFAD and all related organizations are conducting surveys on the spot. No negative situation has been reported so far. I wish a speedy recovery to the affected citizens. May God protect our country from disasters.”
According to AFAD, the earthquake was followed by several aftershocks, one of which had a magnitude of 4.6. Authorities have advised citizens not to enter damaged buildings.
Building collapses in Sindirgi
According to local media reports and the Associated Press, a building has collapsed in the town of Sindirgi, the epicenter of the earthquake. However, no casualties have been officially confirmed so far. The tremors were felt as far as Istanbul, about 200 kilometers away.
