Election Commission’s reply in Supreme Court before hearing on Bihar SIR, said- ‘It is not necessary to make public the list of names removed from the draft list’

The Election Commission has told the Supreme Court that during the Bihar Intensive Voter Revision (SIR), the name of any voter will not be removed from the list without issuing a notice. In the reply filed before the hearing in the Supreme Court on August 12, the Election Commission has said that it is doing its work in a legal manner. It is not necessary under the law that the list of names removed from the draft list be made public.
Orders will be issued regarding those whose names will not be in the draft list: EC
The Commission has said that it will give full opportunity to all the voters to be heard and present documents, written orders will be issued regarding those whose names will not be included in the draft list. Voters will be given the facility to appeal at 2 levels against the written order. All this information will be given to those who will be personally affected in this matter.

The affidavit states that there is no rule to make a separate list of names left out in the draft list and the petitioners filing a petition in the Supreme Court cannot demand the list as a right. Petitioners should be fined for misleading the court.

Press releases are also being issued regularly. People were made aware by sending SSS.
