Harminder Singh, who was martyred in a terrorist encounter in Jammu and Kashmir, had made a video call to his mother Gurmeet Kaur a day before. The martyr had also told his mother about the current situation there. He had told his mother that terrorists had surrounded them from all sides.

Uncle Darshan Singh also told with a choking voice that Harminder’s father had told him many times that son, you should get married but he said that he is settled in the army. After coming home, he will first build a house and then get married.

Uncle told that Harminder was talking and laughing through repeated video calls since a day before. He was saying that I never know when an enemy’s bullet will hit my chest. That’s why he is talking to all his family members.

Darshan Singh said that the politics of the country is being done on the dead bodies of our poor children. He was the only source of livelihood for our family. He too was martyred due to the lack of governments. The martyr’s father is mentally disturbed. The mother is in a bad condition due to constant crying.

It is worth mentioning that the condition of martyr Harminder Singh’s house is very pathetic. It is a kutcha house with a broken roof and his mother cooks on a stove. Harminder Singh has left behind his parents, younger brother and a mentally ill younger sister. The entire responsibility of the house was on Harminder Singh.

So far nine soldiers injured, two terrorists killed

So far nine security personnel have been injured during the operation in Akhal, Kulgam. Two terrorists have been killed in the encounter. Only one of them has been identified as Haris Nazir of Pulwama, who was active in Lashkar-e-Taiba since 2023. The encounter started last Friday when security forces launched a cordon and search operation in a forest area of Akhal in South Kashmir district after receiving intelligence about the presence of terrorists.

This operation is being carried out by the Army’s Special Para Force, 9 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operation Group (SOG), Kulgam Police and CRPF personnel.

Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and Omar paid tribute

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday paid tribute to the two army personnel who sacrificed their lives in the ongoing encounter in Kulgam and said that their bravery, courage and determination will never be forgotten. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also paid floral tribute to the martyrs and visited the Army’s Chinar Corps headquarters at Badami Bagh.
