At Ground Zero in Dharali, NDRF’s cadaver dogs (body search dogs) gave signals by sniffing at eight places. When digging started here, water came out from below, due to which the work had to be stopped there. Now Ground Zero is being scanned with Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). Buildings buried under the rubble will be searched with the waves of this radar. After this, digging will be done at the places from where signals are received in the right direction.
In fact, the work of evacuating people trapped in the disaster-hit area in Dharali is almost complete. Now the police and other agencies have started searching for bodies there in the second phase. For this, NDRF had deployed two cadaver dogs there in the beginning itself. With the help of these dogs, the search operation is being carried out continuously.
Search started by dividing into different sectors
These dogs had given signals by sniffing at a total of eight places on Sunday. When NDRF dug here, water started coming out from under the rubble. In such a situation, NDRF had to stop digging there. Apart from this, based on information from local people, NDRF also dug at the place where people were seen running in the video.
Here also, due to water, much digging could not be done. DIG NDRF Gambhir Singh Chauhan said that scanning is being done here with GPS. This is a device that works on radar waves. With this, structures inside the ground are detected. For example, if there are signs of a house or any other building somewhere, then digging will be done at that exact place.
With this, work can be done easily there with saving of time. NDRF has started the search by dividing the entire area into different sectors. Even bigger machines are facing difficulty in reaching here, so digging has to be done manually.
