Politics in Uttarakhand has heated up over student union elections. In the capital Dehradun, today NSUI gheraoed the secretariat in protest against not conducting elections in 5 colleges. During this, there was a lot of pushing and shoving between NSUI workers and the police force.

Protesters stopped before the secretariat

Congress state president Karan Mahara, Mahila Congress state president Jyoti Rautela and vice president Suryakant Dhasmana were also present in the NSUI siege program. Police stopped the protesters by putting up barricades before the secretariat.

NSUI state president Vikas Negi made serious allegations against the government and said that the state government deliberately does not want to conduct elections in 5 colleges. He demanded that the election dates be announced as soon as possible, otherwise the movement will be intensified.

Meanwhile, Mahila Congress state president Jyoti Rautela said that the government is violating the rights of students and the law and order has completely collapsed. He said that Congress and NSUI are forced to fight on the streets to protect the interests and democratic rights of the students.
