Congress leader Harak Singh Rawat has once again made a scathing statement against the BJP government. This time he himself has spoken of taking donations of lakhs of rupees for the party while being in the BJP. He said that there should be an investigation as to from whom he took cheques while being in the BJP government. At the same time, Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya said that cheques were also taken from him while being in the BJP.
In an informal conversation with journalists at the Congress Bhawan on Friday, former cabinet minister and Congress leader Harak Singh Rawat said that when he was in the BJP, a core committee used to sit. It was decided in this who would take donations from where. Once there was talk of taking donations from a company, the then Chief Minister said that he himself would take donations from them. There was always pressure to donate in the party. At that time, the then Chief Minister had deposited the most money in the party fund and after that he had deposited money.
Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya said that we have also given money by cheque while being in the BJP. Money has been given by cheque in the Lifetime Support Fund. What Harak Singh Rawat has said is correct. The money collected by the government in the lifetime contribution fund should be made public. The whole picture will become clear from that.
Harak Singh should tell where did he take the money from: Bhatt
BJP has given a measured response to the statement of Congress leader and former minister Dr. Harak Singh Rawat. BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt said that earlier the party collected membership fund and gave an account of every penny. Harak Singh must have given a cheque then, but he should tell where did he take this money from.
Bhatt also added that Harak Singh was ours earlier, nowadays he is in Congress and no one knows when he will become ours. That is why his words are not taken seriously in politics. BJP state president Bhatt said that BJP had collected money for the membership fund. The entire money was taken by cheque. Whether it was an amount of hundred rupees or one lakh.
Every BJP worker cooperated in this. He said that former minister Harak Singh Rawat must have also deposited money while being a BJP worker, but all this was taken by cheque. In such a situation, Harak Singh should clarify from where he took this money.
When asked about the challenge of Harak’s status, he said that the public has already shown Harak Singh Rawat his status. His situation has become like ‘a disgruntled cat scratching the pole’. As the elections come closer, Harak Singh himself is going to become a problem for the Congress party.
On the other hand, BJP’s state media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that Harak Singh is making absurd statements against the BJP to please the Congress high command.
