The historic Nanda Devi fair will start from August 28, CM Dhami will inaugurate it, know the specialty of the fair

The fair of Maa Nanda Devi will be held from 28 August to 3 September in the cultural city of Almora. The temple committee has completed all the preparations for the grandeur of the fair. CM Pushkar Dhami will inaugurate the fair. At the same time, the outline of the fair has also been decided along with the release of the poster of Nanda Devi Mela 2025 by the Temple Fair Committee.

Almora Nanda Devi Temple Committee President Manoj Verma said that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has been invited to inaugurate the fair. He has agreed to come to the fair. If everything goes well, the Chief Minister will inaugurate the fair on August 28. Also, Union Minister of State and Almora MP Ajay Tamta, MLA Manoj Tiwari will be present as guests.

He said that to make the fair grand, this year programs have been organized in the Nanda Devi temple premises as well as Adams Inter College grounds, Malla Mahal, Murli Manohar Temple. At the same time, the temple committee has also started preparations for the Nanda Raj Jat to be held in 2026.

Glimpse of Uttarakhand culture: Along with cultural and religious programs, various competitions will be held in the fair. Well-known folk singers of Uttarakhand will perform spreading the magic of their voice. Apart from this, senior artists of the hills will also give their performances to keep the folk music and dance of Uttarakhand Jhora, Chanchari, Bhagnaul, Chhapeli and other traditions alive and to transfer it to the new generation. Women will participate in most of the programs in the fair.

Kadali tree will be brought from Dulgaon for idol making: This time Kadli tree i.e. banana tree will be brought from Railakot Dula village to make the idols of Mother Nanda-Sunanda. The local people along with the temple committee will go to invite the Kadli trees on August 29.

At the same time, on August 30, Kadli trees will be brought to the Nanda Devi complex with a procession from Dula village via the market road. After the worship, local artists will make idols of Maa Nanda Sunanda from banana trees. There will be special worship on the day of Nanda Ashtami. After which devotees will be able to see the idol of the mother till 3rd September.

Procession will be taken out on 3rd September: On the coming 3rd September, the procession of Maa Nanda-Sunanda will start from Nanda Devi temple in the city. It will reach Talla Mahal located at GGIC via Bazaar Marg. Where after the grand Aarti, the fair will conclude with the immersion of the idols of Maa Nanda-Sunanda in the Naula located at Dugalkhola via Bazaar Marg.
