Rain is wreaking havoc in Uttarakhand. After Dharali, once again the Telgad river overflowed in Harshil valley on Sunday evening. After heavy rains, the sudden rise in water and debris in the river has spread panic in the entire area.

Telgad river in spate

In view of safety, the administration has evacuated the entire Harshil market, GMVN guest house, police station and all the buildings on the river bank. Local people say that due to the continuous arrival of large boulders and heavy debris in the Telgad river, there is a danger of blocking the flow of Bhagirathi river and the water level of the lake rising dangerously.

Alert in army camp too

Due to heavy rain in the afternoon, the fierce form of the river reached the Gangotri highway. Many times the debris and strong current moved towards Bhagirathi, due to which the army camp has been put on alert. While the debris of Kheerganga kept flowing continuously in Dharali area, the huge boulders coming from Telgad have deepened the crisis for Harshil Valley. At present, the administration and army teams are keeping a constant eye on the situation.
