After the disaster in Tharali on August 22, on Monday, August 25, the affected people in Tharali tehsil were informing the officials about the loss. Suddenly a landslide occurred behind the SDM office and there was chaos. After this, the SDM also ran along with the employees present in the office. A video of this has also surfaced. In the video, the employees and security personnel of the SDM office are seen running in the front, struggling to save the documents. At the end, SDM Pankaj Bhatt is seen running away with the CPU of the computer. His video is now going viral on social media.
Documents safe: It is being told that the other items inside the three rooms of the SDM office have been taken to safe places. Tharali SDM Pankaj Bhatt says that all the important documents of the office have been safely removed from there. There is no damage of any kind. The good thing is that the SDM office is still safe.
Home and employment ruined: It is worth noting that Chepado village suffered the most damage in the disaster that came on the night of 22 August. That night 11 people were swept away in the debris and went some distance. But luck favored them and they survived. Shops were damaged due to the disaster in Chepado. Vehicles were buried in the debris. People are upset seeing their scattered goods. The villagers have no means of employment in the future. Even the money for the children’s education was buried in the debris. Many important documents were washed away with the water.
11 people are being treated in AIIMS: 11 people injured during the disaster in Chepado have been injured. They were sent to AIIMS Rishikesh through airlift. At present, their treatment is going on there. State Health Minister Dhan Singh Rawat also visited AIIMS to inquire about the condition of the people injured during the disaster and assured all possible help.
Power and water supply stopped: Due to heavy damage in Tharali, there is a big crisis of power and water in Chepado including Tharali Bazaar, Kedarbag, Radibag, Kharibag. District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari has directed the Electricity Department to restore power supply as soon as possible. Water is being supplied to the disaster affected areas through tankers by the Jal Sansthan. So that the villagers do not face water problem.
At the same time, work is going on at war footing in the disaster affected area. The work of restoring the roads is being done rapidly by the administration. Efforts to clear the road are being made at a fast pace with the help of four JCBs and a Poclain machine.
