Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (retd) visited the disaster-hit areas of Dharali Harshil and Mukhaba in Uttarkashi district yesterday. During this, Governor Gurmeet Singh met the affected families and took stock of the relief and security works. The Governor met the affected families from Dharali Harshil in Mukhaba and assured them of all possible cooperation.

In Mukhaba, the Governor took detailed information about the progress of disaster management, relief and security works. During this, he took information about the ongoing relief and security measures from the District Administration, Army, NDRF, SDRF and other security agencies. The Governor especially praised the soldiers of the 14 Rajputana Regiment, who despite being affected by the disaster themselves, actively contributed to the relief and rescue operations. He described it as an inspirational example of true service to humanity and courageous dedication.

Let us tell you that on August 5, Kheer Ganga caused great devastation in Dharali of Uttarkashi district. Dharali market was completely washed away in this disaster. Hotels, lodges, buildings and shops were destroyed in the grip of the disaster. At the same time, along with considerable damage to apple trees in the Dharali disaster, the cultivation of kidney beans in large quantities in this area has also been damaged. Not only have people in Dharali lost their businesses, but a crisis of future livelihood has also arisen for the farmers. According to the Agriculture Department, there has been agricultural damage in 7.30 hectares of area in Uttarkashi district. Out of which 3.10 hectares of agriculture has been damaged in Dharali area. The Agriculture Department estimates that agricultural land worth Rs 7 crore 18 lakh has been damaged in Uttarkashi.
