Uttarakhand: Leopard caught in a cage in Almora, had killed many cattle, but the danger was not averted!

There is terror of leopard in various areas including Golnakardia of the city. Due to which people are in panic. The forest department had put a cage to catch the leopard which has become synonymous with terror in Golnakardia and Chinakhan area, in which it has been trapped. The forest department team took the leopard trapped in the cage to the rescue center located at NTD. Where after its health check-up, it will be released in its natural habitat in the distant forest.

The movement of leopard has increased a lot in the residential areas of the city as well as the surrounding rural areas. Due to which there is an atmosphere of fear and panic among the people. The terror of leopard is at its peak in Golnakardia, Chinakhan, Ganeshigair adjoining the city. There is panic among the people due to the increasing movement of leopard. Leopards are constantly seen in the residential area, due to which there is an atmosphere of fear among the people. People had complained to the forest department to catch the leopard.

On the complaint of the villagers, the forest department team had put a cage in Chinakhan area. Last night, the leopard, which had become synonymous with terror, was caught in a cage. When the people of the area came to know about it in the morning, the local people immediately informed the forest department. After which the forest department team reached the spot. The forest department team took the caged leopard to the rescue center NTD. After which the people of the area have heaved a sigh of relief.

However, local people say that three to four leopards are roaming in the area. They are constantly preying on people’s pet dogs and other cattle. They are also attacking people. They have demanded the forest department to install cages at other places as well.

Forest Range Officer of the Forest Department Mohan Ram Arya said that the leopard had preyed on many cattle in the Cheenakhan area many times. It also tried to attack many people. After which the cage was installed. A male leopard has been captured in the cage. Whose age is about 10 to 11 years. He has been brought to the rescue center. Where, after getting its health check-up done by the doctors, if its health report is found to be fine, it will be released into its natural habitat far away.
