There is good news for small YouTubers. YouTube has given its small and emerging creators a new opportunity to shine. The platform has launched a feature called ‘Hype’, which gives the audience the power to decide which new talent comes into the limelight. Its direct purpose is to give recognition to those creators. Who often get buried in the crowd of big channels.
What is YouTube’s new feature Hype
The hype feature is actually like a voting tool. Where viewers can hype the videos of their favorite small creators i.e. those who have less than 5 lakh subscribers. But it has a limit. Every user will be able to hype only three videos in a week.
- Hype Points and Leaderboard: The more hypes you get, the more points will be added and accordingly the videos will appear on the special leaderboard made in the Explore section of YouTube.
- Badges and Boosts: Videos that get hyped will see a special ‘Hyped’ badge and small channels will also be given an extra boost so that their content reaches more and more people.
Viewers and creators will benefit
This feature can be a game-changer for both.
- Viewers – For viewers, if a user continuously hypes a video, he will get a ‘Hype Star Badge’ every month. Also, if his hyped video goes up on the leaderboard, he will also get a notification for it.
- Creators – For creators, creators will get a ‘Hype Card’ in YouTube Studio, which will show the entire progress of the week and the data of hype points.
Upcoming updates
YouTube has clarified that soon separate leaderboards will be introduced for different categories like gaming, fashion and style. Not only this, the company is also testing ‘Paid Hype’. Due to which creators can also get a chance for extra income.
