Monsoon is now in its last phase in Uttarakhand. Heavy rains this season have caused a lot of damage to roads and bridges. In such a situation, the Public Works Department (PWD) has decided to conduct a safety audit of bridges across the state after the monsoon.

PWD Secretary Pankaj Pandey said that at present no bridge in the state is in a dilapidated condition. Wherever the bridges have been washed out due to rain, valley bridges have been temporarily prepared so that traffic is not affected.

A report will be prepared after assessing the situation
The secretary said that after the monsoon ends, the department’s teams will inspect the bridges and a report will be prepared after assessing their condition. Secretary Pankaj Pandey clarified that this audit will not only tell the current condition of the bridges, but will also give direction to the necessary steps for repair and strengthening in future.
