b
A sensational case of honour killing has come to light in Aliapur village of Pali police station area of Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh. 24-year-old Manvi Mishra was shot dead by her disabled brother Ashutosh alias Veeru. The reason for the murder was Manvi’s inter-caste love marriage, which her family did not accept. To make the murder look like a suicide, the brother along with his mother put a pistol in the hand of the deceased, but the vigilance of the police exposed this conspiracy.
Blood-soaked body found
On the morning of August 31, the body of Sarvendra Mishra’s daughter Manvi Mishra was found lying in a blood-soaked room of her house in Aliapur village. She had a pistol in her right hand, and the bullet had passed through her left temple. Instead of informing the police, the family tried to call it a suicide. Pali police station reached the spot, took the body in its possession and sent it for post-mortem. The forensic team collected evidence, on the basis of which the police started an in-depth investigation of the case.
Love marriage became the reason for murder
Manvi Mishra fell in love with Abhinav Katiyar, a resident of Pandeypur village of Sawaijpur police station area and got married in Arya Samaj temple on 7 January 2025. Abhinav is posted as the Principal in-charge in Nawabganj, Bareilly. When Manvi’s family came to know about the marriage, they assured her to return home that she would be married according to social customs. Manvi returned home on this assurance, but the family snatched her mobile, due to which her conversation with Abhinav stopped.
Husband feared murder
Abhinav did not trust the intentions of Manvi’s family. He had already written a letter to the police expressing apprehension that the family might kill Manvi. On the day of the incident, August 31, at 8:30 am, when Abhinav called Manvi and did not get any response, he immediately informed the police. This information prompted the police to take immediate action.
Brother’s mistake revealed the secret
An important revelation came in the police investigation. Manvi was shot on the left temple, but the pistol was in her right hand, which raised questions on the suicide story. During rigorous interrogation, Manvi’s disabled brother Ashutosh alias Veeru confessed to the crime. He told that on August 31 at 6 am, he shot the sleeping Manvi by placing the pistol on her left temple. After this, along with his mother, he tried to make the murder look like a suicide.
Police arrested brother and mother
Police arrested Manvi’s brother Ashutosh alias Veeru and mother in this case. The pistol has been sent to the forensic lab for fingerprint examination. CO Anand Narayan Raj said that only mother and brother were present in the house at the time of the incident. Manvi’s father Sarvendra Mishra works as a security guard in Lucknow, while her two other brothers work in private jobs in Ghaziabad and Chennai.
