Uttarakhand: State Executive Committee meeting held under State Disaster Relief Fund and State Disaster Reduction Fund under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary

The meeting of the State Executive Committee under the State Disaster Relief Fund and State Disaster Reduction Fund was held in the Secretariat on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan. During the meeting, the committee agreed to the Director General of Police to spend the remaining amount of the financial year 2024-25 for this item for training the SDRF team in the current financial year 2025-26, and to allocate the second installment to the districts of Champawat and Pauri for recovery and reconstruction and relief and rescue operations respectively.

The Chief Secretary directed the officials to immediately distribute the permissible ex-gratia grant assistance to the disaster affected including human wildlife conflict. In this, pending cases should be disposed of immediately.

The Chief Secretary has also directed the Disaster Department to prepare SOP for the use of heli services during emergency situations like disaster. He has directed the Irrigation Department and Public Works Department to prepare proposals in mutual coordination and work for the works like channelization and dredging of Rispana river in Dehradun. He said that a complete action plan should be prepared by studying all the major rivers of the state. Works can be done on the basis of their priority. He has also given instructions to prepare proposals for flood protection works of all the major settlements which are at risk.

The Chief Secretary said that special emphasis should be given on the use of bio engineering and bio fencing in the works being done under the State Disaster Mitigation Fund. In this regard, he also talked about organizing workshops with the concerned departments to provide information about the works being done by the Forest Department under JICA.

Secretary Shailesh Bagauli, Vinod Kumar Suman, Jugal Kishore Pant, Additional Secretary Vineet Kumar, Anand Swaroop and senior officials of the concerned departments were present on this occasion.
