State Level Narcotics Co-ordination (NCORD) meeting was held in the Secretariat on Thursday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan. During the meeting, the Chief Secretary took information from all the districts about the action taken by them. He also directed all the District Magistrates to organize district level NCORD meetings regularly every month.
The Chief Secretary said that the list of committees and nodal officers formed for anti-drugs under various departments should be shared with the Special Secretary Home. He directed to organize awareness programs against drugs continuously. Also, he directed to operate government de-addiction centers.
The Chief Secretary directed to conduct special campaigns on the narcotics route map. He said that CCTV cameras should be installed around schools and such potential areas for drug abuse, where such activities are more. Continuous arrests should be made and cases should be filed. Strict action should be taken against those involved in drug activities. He directed the SP Dehradun to take effective action under anti-drugs in Dehradun.
The Chief Secretary said that cases should be prepared strongly under the PITNDPS Act. He said that all the concerned agencies need to work together on network identification.
On this occasion, Home Secretary Shailesh Bagauli, Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, ADG Jail Abhinav Kumar, ADG Dr. V. Murugeshan, IG Nilesh Anand Bharne, Additional Secretary Home Mrs. Nivedita Kukreti and senior officers of the concerned departments were present.
